About

My name is Jackie Dupont and I am a biracial American woman. I inherited my first name from a grandmother I never knew, my olive complexion and wide nose from a father I never met. I am a writer, hiker, dog mom, enneagram 8. I am a proud political progressive, and I enjoy a strongly worded phone call to congress in place of a cup of morning coffee to really get my day started.

I’m a novice yogi, a newbie plant parent, and an avid keeper and checker-off-er of lists. I watch a lot of stand up comedy and I adore any dialogue- heavy drama series that features an anti-hero as its protagonist.

I’m a new therapy patient. A work in progress. I’m an empathetic person. I can be quick to judge.

I’m Grateful Dead while I get ready for work in the morning, but you can usually catch me blasting WAP on my way back home. I drive a Subaru that’s as old as some of my coworkers. I’m an iced chai latte, a breakfast sandwich aficionado, and I can mix up a mean fruit smoothie.

I’ve moved around a whole lot for most of my life, but home to me is Eugene, Oregon- the place where I learned to roll a joint, to bullshit a term paper overnight, and also to practice acceptance and compassion for others. As a young person in Oregon, I found my love of the outdoors, a fascination so deep that it drove me toward many summer jobs in the national parks in between school years at the University of Oregon. I worked in Glacier, Zion, Olympic, Grand Teton, and Sequoia National Parks before settling in South Lake Tahoe, where I now live with my partner Daniel and our two beloved pups, Nagi & Henry.

I am all the things I mentioned above, and a whole lot more, but mostly, I’m just glad you’re here. The decision to put my writing on the internet for all too see has been a terrifying one, but a voice in my head keeps telling me that I don’t have any other choice, and that voice is growing louder by the day. My intention for this space is simply to practice my chosen craft. I honestly can’t promise you that every piece of writing I leave here will be worth your time, but the goal is really just to create something that will end up being worth mine.
